Deborah Winiarski: “Digging Deep” in ProWax Journal

In “Digging Deep,” her most recent post for ProWax Journal, Deborah Winiarski suggests that all artists dig deep within themselves to create and that “the medium of encaustic allows for digging deep in a literal sense. The yielding nature of wax makes it possible for artists to scrape, carve, incise, excavate—revealing the surface below.” For the seven artists she has selected to feature “the physical act of digging becomes a vital means to expression where metaphor and process merge.”
