In the Gallery

From January through May each year, students are invited to participate in the Art Students League’s class concours exhibition in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery. Under the guidance of their instructors, students select works to display, which will be judged by other League instructors. The judges award Red Dots for those works deemed best in show. At the end of the season, several Red Dot pieces are purchased for the school’s permanent collection.

During the first week of April, the exhibition included work from the classes of Paul Ching-Bor, Wendy Shalen, James McElhinney, and Leonid Lerman. Red dots were awarded to Donna Haley, Sid Edwards, Cecilia Castaneda Cozar, and Allston Chapman. Mr. McElhinney’s students abstained from the judging process.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
