The Instructors Exhibition 2016

For the last several decades, the Instructors Exhibition has opened the fall season in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery at the Art Students League. In an atelier-based school, like the League, an instructor’s work of art can serve as a kind of shorthand for the unique curriculum that he or she brings to the studio. This year we welcome five artists into the regular season corps of instructors: Lisa Dinhofer, who is teaching “The Art of Color in Theory and Practice”; Michael Burban, who is returning to teach “Life Drawing, Painting, and Design” and to lecture on “Anatomy for Artists”; Marshall Jones, who is teaching “Painting the Figure from Life”; James Little, who is teaching “Non-objective Painting, Color, and Design”; and Alex Zwarenstein, who is teaching “Drawing Fundamentals.”
