Merit Scholarship Exhibition 2016

Every spring, at the completion of the student concours, the Art Students League begins a week-long series of judged competitions. Students can compete for around a dozen major grants that offer cash awards and for smaller merit awards that cover tuition for one full-time class. Candidates for merit scholarships are judged in three separate categories—realism, abstraction, and semi-abstract/semi-objective. Eleven scholarships are awarded in each category. On now through July 7, 2016 in the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery is the Merit Scholarship Exhibition. Offered here is a selection of work by the merit award recipients for 2015.
